Who am I?
I’ve raced, I’ve riden. But thats not what I’m about.
I am a regular person who likes riding his bike(s). I enjoy exploring. I love being outside. I find a lot of enjoyment and constantly discover new things about the same areas I often ride in. I enjoy riding and working with different terrain in between the different seasons.
I don’t race (Often), I’m not and never have been that interested in the competitive side of cycling, I have no titles or claims to fame / trophies etc. No claims of being an ex-Olympian now wishing to pass a competitive skill on to anyone.
I have always had a fascination with bikes. The cycle/rotation/wheel/power transfer from body to chain and movement sensations as you roll over terrain has some sort of magical feel to it…. there are points where you feel at one in perfect rhythm with your bike, what you’re riding on and nature. In between the falls, scapes, bumps, mechanical problems, and weather conditions getting you down. In a way it teaches me each and every time something about life that I can relate to.
I have always had a fascination with music and rhythm in particular.
It helps reflect the heartbeat that makes your blood flow, the rotating seasons, weather patterns, patterns of life, the ever changing landscape reflect life itself.
I feel in a certain way when I get out in nature riding my bike and use the time to reset my mind and body into a synchronised way it should operate and I believe is meant to be.
Why? What?
“A bad workman blames his tools”
Theres the old saying a bad workman blames his tools. This to some extent is true and applicable to all things in life. However, a good workman knows his tools and riding a bike is no exception. Just like using any tool, or in the mainstream context of driving a car, one needs to know how it works and functions as well as can be in order to operate it well and achieve the results required.
Theres a danger and safety side to this.
There is a function side.
But there is also a deeper extension to the function. Almost being ‘as one with your bike’ like an extension of your body as its the only thing between you and the ground.
